Sweet Potato Fries with BBQ Ranch Fry Sauce
April 19, 2013
I have such a hard time finding a variety of healthy foods for my child to eat. She seems to end up eating the same foods every day, and I feel like she hardly ever gets any vegetables. My husband and I used to eat sweet potato fries every now and again, but then kind of forgot about them. When I was shopping at Costco the other day, they had them as one of the samples and I gave some to my baby girl and she LOVED them. So now I am back into the sweet potato fries craze. I love that I have a simple vegetable dish that everyone will love! If your kids love fries, this is a great, healthy alternative that you don't need to feel guilty about feeding to your family. I just use the frozen bag of sweet potato fries from Costco, but if you are feeling really domestic, you can try making them from scratch.
Sweet Potato Fries
Frozen bag of sweet potato fries
Olive Oil
Garlic Powder
Cumin
Parsley
Salt & Pepper
BBQ Ranch Sauce
3 Tbls Ranch
3 Tbls BBQ Sauce
(Sweet Baby Rays is our favorite)
And that's it!
1. Place the desired amount of fries into a plastic ziploc bag. Pour a bit of olive oil in, seal, and shake it around to coat all the fries.
2. Reopen the bag and shake in some garlic powder, cumin, parsley, salt, and pepper. Reseal and shake to coat.
3. Pour fries out onto baking sheet and bake according to package directions.
4. Mix equal amounts of ranch and BBQ sauce in a bowl and enjoy with your fresh sweet potato fries!
This sauce tastes similar to the sweet potato fry sauce at Blue Lemon if you have ever been there, but I actually like this version better. Probably because I think the stuff at Blue Lemon uses Mayo/Miracle Whip and I'm not a fan. I always use Ranch in replacement of Mayo/Miracle Whip. I find it tastes so much better!
What are some of your favorite ways to cook sweet potato fries?
