How to Create Your Own Blogger Header Image

April 22, 2013

When I started my blog I had an idea of what I wanted it to look like and I was quite overwhelmed, wondering if I would ever reach that idea.  I wanted something simple, yet me. I feel pretty good about where my blog is now for the most part.  It takes a lot of time and coding work to reach your desired look but it's definitely worth it.  My design will probably change but for now I'd rather put my time into my posts. This post is all about how to design and create your own blogger header image using PicMonkey.

1. Go to PicMonkey.
2. Click on "Create a Collage".
3. Go to the "Layouts" tab on the left (the second one down).
4. Choose "Ducks in a Row" and choose the one with 5 squares.
5. Change the size at the bottom to the length of your blog.  Mine is 1000 x 200, DO NOT go bigger than 1200 px in length, as that is the length of the web browser.  800 x 160 is probably the smallest you will want to go.
6. Now this is where YOUR design skills take place.  If you want the background to be a picture collage, go back to the "Images" tab (top tab) on the left, and upload the pictures you want and add them to the squares.  If not, go to the "Background" tab (last tab) and change the background color to your desired color. I prefer mine to be the same color as my blog background so it blends in, but you do what works best for you.
7. Save your collage.
8. Click the X to close out.
9. Now go to "Edit a Photo" and upload your collage photo you just made.
10. Now you can add all sorts of fun things to make your blog header you.  Add shapes, text, unique effects, etc. Have fun with it!
11. Now save your photo.
12. Now go to your blogger, and click on "Layout".
13. Edit your header and upload your newly made header. Check the circle to place it "Instead of title and description".
14. Save and adore your new, beautiful header!

Here is a great post about "how to design and upload a blog header".  She gives some good tips about the design process.
Comment and tell me how the process went and link your blog so I can check out your newly designed headers.

Do you love your new header?  What other ways do you use to create your own headers?

I feel the exact same way. Glad you at least got around to putting the time into learning how to do it. ;)

I made one and I love the variety of options PicMonkey has but I wish it had a way to add Text. Does it and I just missed it?

It does have a way to add text. You have to save the collage you make, and then go to "edit a photo" and open the collage you made and the "P" tab on the left is Text.
